Fen Lasell Taylor,
long time resident of San Miguel, began her career in the theatre, doing sets
and costumes in the Boston area. When she had small children, she worked at
home writing and illustrating children’s books. When the children left home
she came to San Miguel and turned to oil painting. She has been painting ever
since, showing here and in British Columbia. Her paintings reflect an
involvement with plants and animals as inspired by the scenes from the
countryside where she lives. But the subject is not the picture. Her first
concern in her paintings is to offer the eye a visual adventure.
