Jim Carrey, the multi-hyphenated artist, creator and of course actor, will debut his first NFT artwork “Sunshower”, exclusively for SuperRare, a curated marketplace for NFT artwork.
Carrey’s digital work will be accompanied by an original contemplative voice-over. Originally one of Carrey’s many paintings, “Sunshower” is turned into an animated NFT. “A solar shower feels like receiving a divine gift,” the ‘Ace Ventura’ actor said in a statement, “a form of medicine with miraculous regenerative potential.”
Carrey continued, “It’s hard to hold on to skepticism when the air around you shimmers like diamonds.”
“Sunshower” will be revealed on Wednesday with a 24-hour countdown to the auction start time at noon PT Thursday with a starting price of $1. Part of the profits will be donated to the association Feed America.
As a lover of art and technology, Carrey combined the two to create his works, including “Sunshower”. The actor’s artistic career began with drawing and painting, before moving into animation. “I had just started experimenting with bringing my art to life through simple animations when the NFT world opened up, for me there would never be enough new places to create,” Carrey said.
“Sunshower” is Jim Carrey’s first NFT work, produced in association with filmmaker David Bushell, and is available exclusively on SuperRare.
Carrey said in March that he would be taking a break from acting and was strongly considering retirement.
“Well, I’m retiring. Most likely,” Carrey told Access. “I’m pretty serious, yes. It depends, it depends if the angels bring some kind of script written in gold ink that will be really important for people to see, so I could continue on the road, but I’m taking a break.
