Ridgefield to open new art gallery on Main Street

Dee Dee Perrone Colabella, owner and gallery owner of PRPP, plans to open a second gallery in Ridgefield at 446 Main Street and will display works of art by artists from here and abroad.

The opening reception of the D. Colabella Art Gallery is scheduled for January 13, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will feature paintings and prints by renowned Westport artist Claudia Mengel.

The opening exhibition will run until March 13, 2022.

Colabella’s second gallery follows an exciting preview exhibition in September 2021 featuring 19 local and international artists from the Guy Stanley Philoche collection which was hosted in the PRAC gallery. She and her staff are delighted to present a new venue that is more intimate and allows only one or two artists to be showcased at a time, unlike the RPAC Gallery, which exhibits the work of a collective group of resident artists.

In Colabella’s words, “There is often something magical that happens when a viewer gains access to a deeper understanding of an artist’s practice. This space will give us the opportunity to share a greater number of works.

Another key goal of Colabella’s effort will be to further connect the community with work that engages viewers not only aesthetically, but also with work that addresses contemporary issues facing our society today. “Especially after being named Connecticut’s first cultural district, I think it’s really important that we continue to nurture the spirit our city places on engagement in the arts and the awareness that it brings to our people. lives, our relationships and our environment… this is the idea that we aim to cultivate in our new space ”, explains Colabella.

The D. Colabella art gallery will be:

  • By appointment: Monday to Wednesday
  • Open: Thursday to Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Closed: sunday
