The D. Colabella Fine Art Gallery in Ridgefield exhibits the work of acclaimed Westport artist Claudia Mengel

The D. Colabella Fine Art Gallery, located at 446 Main Street Ridgefield, which is celebrating its inaugural exhibition, is pleased and honored to present Claudia Mengel: PAINTS AND PRINTS.

January 13 to March 13, 2022

Vernissage: Thursday January 13, 2022, 6-9 p.m.

The exhibition is an overview of the work of an artist for whom landscape and nature are a vast reservoir of inspiration. The exhibition features works in a variety of mediums – acrylic on canvas, works on paper, and monotypes – that capture the artist’s use of color, line, form, and movement. This body of abstract expressionist works invites the viewer to explore the known and the unknown while experiencing the opportunity for interpretation.

Claudia Mengel has been studying, teaching and doing art for many years. Fourteen years ago, she quit her corporate career as Vice President of Creative Services at JP Morgan Chase Manhattan Bank and began to focus on her art full time. An accomplished painter and printmaker whose work is part of numerous national and international private collections, she exhibits in several galleries and is a member of the Silvermine Artist Guild and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, where she served on the board of directors.

The artist received his degree in printmaking from the Brainerd Art School at the State University of New York in Potsdam. She continued her studies at the Art Students League of New York, the Silvermine Art Center, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, and the Darien Art Center, as well as with private tutors. She studied with Robert Reed, an art teacher at Yale.
