They are produced by the hand of Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, or targeted by him, and testify to the artist’s precision and his quest to make this pharaonic opera “real”

“Van Leo’s Legacy” Celebrates Egypt’s First Studio Photographer of the 20th Century Van-Leo100th anniversary of the AUC, with an extended exhibition throughout the season featuring a rare selection from the AUC Rare Book Library and Special Collections. The exhibition exclusively presents more than 150 photographs, including some of his iconic portraits presented for the first time as well as some of his personal studio furniture, including his art deco desk and the set on which he has exhibited his portraits for four decades, to try to recreate his workshop. Open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Graphic legend Paul Rand was among the most influential designers, who led the wave of American design reform. When Rand passed away at age eighty-two (1914-1996), his career had spanned six decades, three generations and many chapters in design history. Twenty-five years after his death, Nagla Samir and Daniel Lewandowski celebrate his work and heritage in the Middle East with a retrospective exhibition and book, with contributions from Jayme Odgers, Tom Hardy, Jessica Helfand and Bob Burns, detailing the thoughts Paul Rand’s Extraordinary and Process (December 11-January 20, 2022).
